Have you stopped and reflected on your goals recently?
We’re over halfway through 2022 and now is the perfect time to take a moment to check in on your goals, refocus on what you need, and bring more abundance into your life to make this year your best one yet.
Was 2022 supposed to be the year of the new you? Maybe you were going to read more books, learn a new language, step up your self-care, focus more on yourself, start exercising more, or any number of other things.
Setting a goal can be very different from actually making progress toward achieving it. It’s easy to write down a list of things we’d like to accomplish - the hard part is doing the work and accomplishing them, and that doesn’t happen overnight. Depending on how big your goal is, accomplishing it could take days, weeks, months, or even years.
That’s why it’s a good idea to take a step back every once in a while to take stock of what is working and what isn’t so that you can determine whether you need to shift your strategies.
Here are some simple tips to help you reevaluate your goals, assess your progress, and take the next step towards achieving them:
- Reflect on the goals you made at the beginning of the year
Getting started might be the hardest step, but don’t stress. All you need is 30 minutes to yourself so you can check in with your goals. Sit somewhere quiet where you won't be disturbed, put on your favourite playlist, and enjoy the process.
- Evaluate where you are with your goals
Take stock of how far you’ve come and/or how far you still have to go. If there are some things you’ve already accomplished, then check them off the list! Give yourself a pat on the back for the things you have done, but don’t give yourself a hard time for the things you haven’t accomplished yet.
- Refocus on the reasons WHY you chose those goals
Are there goals on your list that you gave up on or even forgot about? If so, then think back on exactly why you chose those goals for yourself. How were you feeling at the beginning of the year? What made you set those goals? Focusing on the why behind your goals instead of the goals themselves can be helpful in finding the motivation to achieve them. If it’s still a genuine goal that you intend to pursue, then leave it on your list. If that goal no longer serves you then remove it - it’s better to be honest with yourself about what you want (and don’t want) so you can focus your energy on the things that are most important.
- Accomplish your remaining goals
Now that you’ve narrowed down your list to a set of goals you actually do want to accomplish, it’s time to make them a reality. Small progress is still progress, so don't try to achieve your goal all at once as it can be overwhelming. A goal can be as small and simple as meditating for one minute per day, or eating an extra serving of veggies, or studying for 30 minutes in the evening. It’s all well and good to set big goals, but it’s important to make sure that goals are actually achievable as well. That’s why it’s often better to carve up your bigger goals into smaller, more immediately actionable steps.
- Manifest your dreams
Manifestation is, essentially, bringing something into your life through the power of attraction and self-belief. Your thoughts, emotions, and actions can all help turn your goal into a reality. When you manifest your goal, you are making it known to the universe that this will be yours.
Manifesting is a truly liberating, eye-opening, and fun experience that can ultimately change your life. As with most things in life, there are some do’s and don’ts to remember when manifesting. The most important factor is that you have to truly want it, deep in your heart of hearts, and you need to be specific when setting your manifestation goal. Being vague just won’t cut it.
You need to ask the universe for what you want and start listening.
Once you are clear on your goal, you need to spend at least 10-15 minutes a day on your visualisation. Surround yourself with affirmations, objects, vision boards, that bring your dream to life. You need to take action and you need to trust the universe. This is when the magic begins to happen.
